Musicians Love You…
This is all based on my definition of love.
When an artist says “I love you” to the fans, what the hell does that mean? And most of all, how do the fans (I hate that word) believe that crap? You shouldn’t believe that because it simply isn’t true.
Why does the artist love you? Because you bought their CD or went to their show? Because you give them money? Because you love them? Why don’t they prove their “love” to you? Actions speak louder than words. Throw that one at them.
First off, the word “love” in my opinion is used far too much, especially in America. Let me explain. In the Korean culture, the word “love” is not used as nonchalantly as it is here in America, so when a Korean says “I love you”, it means a whole lot. I think in other cultures, the same thing applies where that word means much more and is much deeper than here.
Love to me is something special. Very special. The word is only reserved to the people I care for the most. People I’d give up the world for.
You will rarely hear me say “I love you guys” because true love is earned. Now it’s not to say that I don’t respect you as a human being, think positively of you, and adore you. I just don’t love you.
I do not understand why artists do that. Maybe their version of love means “Hey, you are awesome”. If so, then I guess the person who is truly loved by them will feel that much more special. Probably not…or maybe.
I guess it is easier to throw the word “love” to a group of people rather than individuals, which is why individuals should not take it seriously when the artist says it.
Anyways, my gripe isn’t against the fans, but more towards the artists who use that word like it’s a “how are you” line…
Love you all.
